About the Role:

Training will be attending a webinar as a moderator and observing.

A designated person will login and start the webinar and be available to deal with any technical issues.  Moderators will follow a clear format:

  • Ten Minutes Before Start:  Login from the invitation email.  You will be assigned as a co-host with full privileges.
  • First 5 minutes: Read a prepared statement introducing the session.
  • Next 15 minutes or less: The person seeking to be a public servant speaks. Voters submit “I” messages and upvote others’ submissions.
  • Next 55 minutes: Moderator presents the most upvoted expression to the person seeking to be a public servant, who will respond (up to 5 minutes per response).
  • Next 10 minutes or less: Person seeking to be a public servant provides closing thoughts, clarifications, &/or final remarks.
  • Final 5 minutes: Moderator thanks both the candidate and participants.

Moderator Tools & Expectations:

  • Use a timer (smartphone stopwatch or countdown is sufficient).
  • You’ll be provided a bell to signal when 30 and 10 seconds remain. If needed, give a verbal stop
  • Moderators may mute microphones if necessary — remind persons seeking to be a public servant that 10 minutes at the end there will be time available for comments.
  • Please ensure you’re in a quiet, distraction-free room during the session.
